Thomas E. Ricks is one of America’s most esteemed military journalists. A member of two Pulitzer Prize–winning teams for national reporting, he has reported on U.S. military activities in Somalia, Haiti, Korea, Bosnia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Kuwait, Turkey, Afghanistan, and Iraq. He is currently The Washington Post’s senior Pentagon correspondent, where he has covered the U.S. military since 2000. Previously, he held the same beat at The Wall Street Journal, where he was a reporter for seventeen years. He is the author of the recent definitive military chronicle The Gamble: General David Petraeus and the American Military Adventure in Iraq, 2006-2008, and earlier titles Fiasco: The American Military Adventure in Iraq, Making the Corps, and A Soldier’s Duty.

Ricks lectures widely to military officers and is a member of Harvard University’s Senior Advisory Council on the Project on U.S. Civil-Military Relations. He lives outside of Washington, D.C., with his wife and two children.
