He began selling in 1975 and by the year 2000 had risen through the ranks of no fewer than forty-eight companies, going from salesman to sales manager to national sales manager to vice-president of sales to trainer and, finally, performance consultant.
Having worked with companies such as Marriott, National Utility Service, Hilton, Zep Manufacturing, International Profit Associates, and Investors Group, Derek began to identify the pieces to the performance puzzle. It was the ability to work with so many different companies that gave him the rounded education—in all sale types—that was critical to identifying the final formula for a top-performing sales force.
Gatehouse is CEO of Vendis Inc., a New York-based consulting and training firm that teaches companies its proprietary “6 Elements” that must be understood to build a sales force of top producers. THE PERFECT SALESFORCE: The 6 Best Practices of the World’s Best Sales Teams is his first book. Derek enjoys music, chess, reading, and many sports. He lives in Montreal with his wife, two children, and a three-legged Labrador.
