David Magee, author of eight non-fiction books, has studied business leaders such as John Deere’s Robert W. Lane and Nissan’s Carlos Ghosn while delving deep inside global corporations like Toyota and developing a unique perspective on business and management. David wrote his latest book, HOW TOYOTA BECAME #1 (due out November 1, 2007), while having access to the company’s top executives, providing an inside study of what is arguably the most important global corporation of the early 21st century.

David’s previous books include TURNAROUND: How Carlos Ghosn Rescued Nissan, which has sold over 100,000 copies, is published in seven languages, and was called “a provocative case study” by Harvard Business Review, and MOONPIE, named notable non-fiction book of the year by the Atlanta Consitution Journal. These books and his other works including THE SOUTH IS ROUND, ENDURANCE: Winning Life’s Majors the Phil Michelson Way, and THE JOHN DEERE WAY, have helped to establish David as a substantial source and voice for the contemporary business world.

David has been a repeated guest on Bloomberg TV, CNBC, and Associated Press Radio, and a feature on dozens of regional and local talk and television shows. His works have been reviewed in the Miami Herald, the Orlando Sentinel, the New York Times, the Boston Globe, the Wall Street Journal, and in dozens of other daily newspapers. David is the founder and co-owner of one of the South’s most successful new independent bookstores, Rock Point Books, and is the founder and president of Jefferson Press, a small press distributed nationally by Independent Publishers Group.

A University of Mississippi journalism graduate who served two terms on the Oxford, Mississippi city council, David is also a former newspaper editor and businessman who was named to Mississippi’s Top 40 Under 40 by the Mississippi Business Journal. Magee lives with his wife and three children on Lookout Mountain, Tennessee.
